Shockwave Therapy is a high-energy acoustic pulse produced by our Extracorporeal Shockwave unit. It improves the metabolism in the pain region, increases blood circulation and this effectively stimulates the body’s repair mechanisms. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heals.
In other words, Shockwave Therapy is all about activating the body’s self-healing abilities.
Shockwave Therapy is used to treat several conditions including lumber and cervical back pain, including chronic muscular pain, illiotibial band friction syndrome, shin splints, hip bursitis, patellar tendonitis, calcific tendinosis of rotator cuff muscles, tennis/golfer’s elbow, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis as well as several other conditions.
What is a Shockwave Therapy treatment like? Initial visits are around 15-30 minutes where your condition will be assessed to see if you’re a candidate for this treatment. Typically patients require 3 visits, 1 week apart. Each treatment lasts between 5 and 15 minutes. The therapist will use a hand-held device to pin-point the injured area.
